Motorcycle Accident Resulting in Serious Injuries – Liver & Kidney Lacerations & Left Knee Fracture
Description:
The driver of a Nissan Altima unexpectedly and suddenly made an improper lane change directly into a motorcyclist, causing a motorcycle crash. The at fault driver stated she "did not see the motorcycle" when she began to change lanes; and was cited for "Improper Lane Change" and Driving While License Revoked. After ambulance transport to the hospital, the motorcyclist was diagnosed as having a liver laceration, kidney laceration, facial lacerations and a left knee fracture.
The at fault driver had automobile insurance, having bodily injury liability coverage of only $10,000. The motorcyclist had an automobile insurance policy having uninsured motorist coverage of $100,000, resulting in a total recovery of $110,000. This case is yet another example and reminder that many motorists on the roads have little or no insurance. It also illustrates the importance of having Uninsured Motorist coverage. Had the biker not had such coverage, she would have been out of pocket for thousands of dollars of medical bills, for an accident no fault of her own.
