Description:
A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck made a sudden and unexpected left turn violating the right of way of a motorcyclist, 20 years of age, causing the biker life-threatening, severe and lifetime permanent injuries. The crash was a T-bone type collision that pushed the biker and motorcycle off the road, into a nearby parking lot. Police investigation resulted in a Florida Traffic Crash Report – Long Form reporting the driver of the pickup truck failed to yield right of way and the bike had no contributing action or comparative fault. Thus, fault for the crash was clearly against the driver of the pickup truck. Further investigation revealed the pickup truck was owned by the driver's employer. Additional investigation revealed the owner for the pickup truck had automobile liability insurance coverage for $1,000,000, with excess liability coverage of $2,000,000, for a total of $3,000,000. The biker's injuries included a head injury, headaches, memory loss, concentration problems, cervical fractures, brachial plexus injuries, loss of use of his left arm and hand, fractured sternum, fractured ribs, kidney injury and other injuries.
